Learning enough about this great big machine called WordPress on my nice lil phone has had me feeling some kinda way. It has been since early June that I have been intimidated by the simple complexities of WordPress and my abilities. I think I’m mostly doing this blog to see if I have the balls to really find out what I’ve got, what I am made of and if I can do this to my standards (there are sooooooo many bloggers I enjoy and follow, so 👌. Standards are set) If so, I will hold my head higher Im sure and get my novel and others published.
The following is an example post, originally published as part of Blogging University This will not be a complete copy of the example intro blog, just what will be useful for me and you while giving credit to Blogging University!
“You’re going to publish a post today”. This is what the example blog is telling me. “Don’t worry about how your blog looks,’ They say. “Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed.”…( Still, Sometimes. or as Usual) “Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here,” They say.
,,,So My Beautiful Creatures🧡✌🍸,,,
I will underline what is original to the Original intro blog example post. Then as I come back to post I will work on each question and the suggestions. I will bite off what I think I I have room for that day and eventually chew on and spit out (actually post, get it?) each morsal of this example intro post.
Seems like a doable way for me to get to know the ins and outs of WordPress while you guys get to know about me. Then after each post from here I will change the underline to
a strikethru of what I just chewed on and spat out… And come back again to chew on and spit out some More till you feel like you know me that much More Gooder.
FROM THE ORIGINAL
The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.
- Why do this?
- Because it gives new readers context. What are you about? Why should they read your blog?
- Because it will help you focus your own ideas about your blog and what you’d like to do with it.
- Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?
- What topics do you think you’ll write about?
- Who would you love to connect with via your blog?
- If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?
.. . Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.
When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “
zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
Peaces of Paulette
So random, I’m sure. Peaces of Paulette will be my way of including blog ideas until i make it thru the Original intro blog post. I will come back to these ideas hopefully knowing WordPress better and be able to give you guys good honest reads.
